Mighty Kids was the first UK company to create liposomal supplements for kids and so as industry leaders, we wanted to exercise caution and start with a very conservative age limit. We have since received guidance from our team of scientists and nutritionists that our dosage on all our products in the kids line is safe from 12 months- with parental discretion. Parents need to ensure a child is not already on a prescribed infant formula, specially fortified milk, or other supplements that contain high amounts of these ingredients. Please check labels for these amounts. We previously decided that we were most comfortable keeping the labels as they were to allow for direct communication with parents to explain the above and to ensure absolute safety for those who may not reach out to us beforehand to discuss this. However, with over a year of education provided to our customers, we are now in the process of updating our labels to reflect the current guidance and this will happen in the next production batch.

Why do children need vitamin D?

Vitamin D (which acts as a pro-hormone in the body) helps to strengthen teeth & bones, improve immunity, regulate hormones, support normal muscle function, and more!

It is made by skin cells through UV exposure. If there is limited UV exposure (sunshine!) available, the risk of deficiency increases substantially. This is particularly true for the UK and other areas of the Northern Hemisphere.

It is estimated that at least 20% of the UK population has a Vitamin D deficiency, and over 60% have less than sufficient levels. Supplementation during the Autumn and Winter months is recommended by health professionals to ensure optimal levels are maintained throughout the year.

There are many studies showing correlations between lack of sunshine and lower immune response, mood regulation, and optimal growth and development.

Our Vitamin D3 has been specially formulated with Vitamin K2 to work as a power team! While D3 helps with calcium absorption and bone health, K2 directs calcium to the right places in the body, such as the bones and teeth, while preventing it from accumulating in the wrong places, like arteries and soft tissues.

Recent studies have also shown a correlation between Vitamin D3 and atopic conditions- in particular eczema. Appropriate levels of Vitamin D3 will help with inflammation and also influences gene expression, which can result in relief from certain skin issues.
